Obituary of Cecil O. Knop
Cecil O. Knop, August 1, 1918 – December 31, 2018. Cecil grew up on a farm in Atlantic, Iowa, learning the value of money at an early age. As young boys, he and his brother Don, worked and saved, then went to cattle auctions buying young calfs for a dollar each.
As young men, they invested in farms always saying, “There was work to be done, no time for sleeping”. When he and his wife Virginia, moved to Tucson, they soon started investing in homes.
One day while coaching Little League, a friend suggested that he join the Pima County Sheriffs office. He thought is was a good idea, and besides, he’d get to wear a badge. He was sworn in the same day and never looked back. Upon retirement he was a Captain/Acting Major, always respecting the badge he cherished.
He said he wanted to live to be 100 years old, and he exceed that, exercising daily. Cecil was full of dry wit and wisdom and made individuals feel they were the most important person around.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife and daughter. Survivors include his son and nephew. Visitation with be held on Tuesday January 8th, 2019 from 10:00a.m – 11:30a.m at Brings Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd, Tucson.
