I interviewed Corporal Storck when visited our Scout Troop 007 in 2014. Such a great man, such courage. It was an honor and a pleasure. Here is the interview:

My Grandfather is Maurice’s brother, Morgan. I never had the honor of meeting Maurice, but grew up hearing wonderful stories of him. My mother often would mention him, showing me stamps he had sent her. I have a newspaper clipping I am adding along with a picture of Maurice’s father, Ray Sr., in uniform. One more picture is of my grandfather smoking a cigarette. Wish I could have met my great uncle Maurice, to have learned more. All love and respect, David

Aaron I just finished reading your Dads obituary and he was an amazing man . After our brief discussion of your Arlington trip to bury him I feel that I needed to know more about your Dad and family . What he accomplished in his life was amazing . I understand the great pride you had for your father . Steve Morse

To the family and friends of Maurice,
Am heartbroken to learn of Maurice's passing. We corresponded for 20+ years as I donated stamps to the vets group from friend in NZ and Australia. In reading his obituary I now understand his interest in NZ. What started out as chance meeting became an ongoing correspondence for all these years. I also admired his dedication to the stamp club and he never failed to send a hand-written thank you note.
He wrote me a couple of years ago that he was planning a trip back to Maine and that we would be able to finally meet in person. Sadly, this did not work out.
Am very supportive of organizations that train service dogs for vets and will make a donation in his name to the suggested Handy Dogs Organization.
Maurice, you are much admired and are sorely missed.

I was honored to have known Maurice for the past six years at the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration in Tucson. It was a privilege to transport him from his office to chow and later from the Veterans State Home to work and back. We had many conversations about our dogs, coins and stamps and his incredible life experiences. He briefed me every morning on the Stick Market and I told him about the weather. I will keep those memory’s always and truly miss his company. God Bless you all.

Aron,
Thank you for including the information directing me to your father's obituary. I found his life summary inspirational and representative of the "greatest generation". He, and they as a group, set an enviable example for those who followed. While his loss must be felt with some pain, in hindsight,t it must be comforting that at 97+, he enjoyed reasonable health and his passing was not drawn out. It would seem that he went out of his way to make the world around him better with his efforts. The world needs more Maurice Storcks.
I have to say, my friend, that in looking at his smile, I see yours. We will have to share a brew this coming summer.

In the mid-to-late 60’s I visited my Maine relatives for the first time with my Mom from Alaska. Uncle Maurice picked us up at the airport and took us to a steak restaurant. I had been ill on the plane(s) and had not eaten for hours. He bought me a giant steak and I ate it all. Uncle Maurice came to Hawaii when my son was five and we were able to visit with him. A wonderful man, a wonderful story, a wonderful life.

I remember your dad as being a very gentle man. When I used to go to Rainbows for Girls in the hall above your dads store I would see him frequently and he always had a very big smile and a gentle way about him. He will be missed by many but he’s with the love of his life now.

For all the dolls from your travels around the world when I was little, for everything you taught me about your love for coins and stamps when I worked at your shop in the late 60's (Showing me that writing Czechoslovakia on the envelopes would go faster if I'd learn how to spell it rather than having to stop and keep looking back), for taking me to the Portland Club to watch you play billiards(despite all the grumpy looks the members gave me) for just being the best uncle ever...Thank you Uncle Maurice, I'll see you later kiddo <3

Aaron and Family: So sorry to hear of Maurice's passing. He had a long, full life with as distinguished ending as always. I learned very many lessons from Maurice who was a wealth of information for my passion which is numismatics. We traveled together in Europe which was most educational. He was a true patriot with love of his country as well as a great numismatic master.
Many years ago, I, my wife, and son visited Maurice and his late wife Nancy in Tucson and have many unforgettable memories of our times there.
Again, please accept our deep condolences on his passing.
