Obituary of Carrie Lynn Carrithers

                                                    Carrie Lynn Carrithers
                                                    9/01/1954-12/17/2019

Carrie left us suddenly on December 17th to go to that Great Gig in the Sky. Born in Omaha,
Nebraska, she grew up across the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She received her
Pharmacology Degree from Creighton University in 1977. Not liking the confines of the
windowless environment of pharmacies, Carrie set out to find the sunshine of Arizona in 1983.
She found work as a professional seamstress until she applied her skills and worked as an
environmental chemist. She then worked for the Pima County Wastewater Department as an
Industrial Wastewater Inspector and Wastewater Conveyance System Monitor. Carrie ended
her professional career as an Environmental Enforcement Officer for the Tucson Airport
Authority. Carrie was an avid bibliophile who loved to curl up with a good book and a kitten on
her lap, or to yell at the t.v. When her beloved Green Bay Packers were playing. Carrie was an
independent woman who lived life on her terms. She was an accomplished quilter and loved
creating various sundries with her sewing machine. She was active with the Community Food
Bank and volunteered annually at the Tucson Festival of Books since its inception. All of us
who knew and loved her will forever have Carrie’s ray of sunshine with us. An Open House
celebrating Carrie’s life will be held at her home January 25 from 2-4 pm
