Rob Ford was my best friend. I first met him when my family moved in 1964 from White River Junction Vermont to Tucson Arizona. We moved to Cooper Street and the Fords lived right across the street from us. Both of our families moved around Arizona a bit, but we always remained close family friends. We did a lot of crazy things growing up - one of my favorite being when we would sneak in to the drive-in theater that was at 22nd and Alvernon (I think that is right) with folding chairs and sit near someones car and watch movies for free, bringing in beer with us even though we were under age (this was high school - the late 70s - when we had both gotten our drivers licenses ...). We would usually end the evening by going over to the park that was in the neighborhood where we grew up together and jump the fence and skinny-dip in the pool they had there (I'm not sure if the park or the pool are still there). Occasionally we would have to flee when some guard would show up, but we never got caught (this may be the first time that anyone other than Rob and I have heard this story ...). This has been a rough year of loss and I miss my best friend - the world seems a smaller place these days ... Tom Whitney

Rob will be with us forever as we will continue to remember his wonderful and playful sense of humor in which he made us laugh on so many occasions and he also taught us to be ourself. His legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren.
Goodbye my friend Rest in Peace.

Rob your earthly presence will be greatly missed but we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. It was my pleasure in working with you these last few years. Now I have to learn my own teleconference passcode. Your professionalism coupled with your humor made workshops and conference calls a hoot. Always has a joke or a story. Family, be comforted in knowing that weeping may dure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Well done my friend, you have gained your wings, and you rest easy. May God comfort the family during this time. Rest in Peace!

Rob was and always will be one of thos people that bring joy and laughter to this world. He taught us to just laugh, life is serious enough so while were at it let's enjoy it. I'm forever grateful for what I was taught by Rob, and will look to the laughter in things. Until we see you again, we will carry on with a smile on our hearts! Thank you for the good times!

To the family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that soon God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev. 21:3,4) May this promise give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathies.
