Carole Newton

Obituary of Carole L. Newton

Carole L. Newton 1936-2020

Carole Newton, 84, passed away on December 27, 2020.

Our beloved wife and mother was the rock of our family.  Our strength and our confidante.

Daughter of Margaret Gutwinski Marcello and Frank A. Marcello, she was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Her brother Robert Marcello (Margaret) and sister Sharon Glover (Faber) preceded her in death.

Carole moved to Tucson, AZ with her parents in 1949.  This is where she met her sweetheart Vincin, who she later called “Vinny”.  While only 17 years old, they were married on June 27, 1953 at Camp San Luis Obisbo in California.  Their love spanned 67 years on this earth and withstood all that life threw their way.

Carole had 6 children, who were her joy.  Linda Newton Nelson, who was lost to us when she passed away at only 19 years of age, Patricia (Patti) Salazar, Sharon (Shari) Newton, Mark Newton, Kimberly (Kim) Fister, John Newton.

Carole attended Tucson High School until 9th grade.  While raising her family, she obtained her GED in 1974.

She began her career as a school bus driver for TUSD in 1979.  She retired in 1998 but continued to work as a school crossing guard in retirement, until health no longer permitted.  She held a special place in her heart for the school children and loved to have those relationships in her life.

Carole was an avid fitness walker, and this became her passion.  At 66 years of age, it would also change her life forever, after enduring a severe head injury caused by a pedestrian accident, during one of her walks.

Carole was a strong woman, who had more injuries than any one person should have in any lifetime.   She took it all and came back time after time with unimaginable strength, courage, and fortitude.

She was also a crossword puzzle fanatic and had crossword puzzle dictionaries stashed throughout the house.

She enjoyed singing and was a part of her church choirs in her younger years.

Her greatest joy in life was her children, for which we are all so grateful.  She was our shoulder to lean on and our greatest ally and friend.   She was a constant in our lives and gave her love freely and without fail.

Carole leaves behind her soulmate Vincin, her remaining 5 children, Patricia (Larry), Sharon, Mark (Diana), Kimberly, John (Junko), 12 precious grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and dear friends who were so important to her in her lifetime.

We could not express the depths of our love for her, as there are no words.  It is in our hearts and in her heart.   And, until we meet again, our precious “Dear,” “Mama,” “Ma,” “Mobs,” “Mom,” “Mormst,” we will miss you and love you every day.
