We all lost a beautiful person in "Bill". He was truly a special and caring soul with many gifts and talents. He played banjo, he raced bikes and cars, he was a gardener, he taught school at Palo Verde, he produced one of the first prize-winning electric vehicles with his students. He was a truly special person and friend. He seemed to care for everybody. He took care of his wife, his children, his friends, his neighbors and his church and was ready to jump in and help wherever it was needed. He always had a smile or a good story to tell. My whole family will miss the good friend we had in Bill. He will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. An Angel himself, he is likely up there helping an angel's vehicle right now. Thanks, Kid. I remember Mr & Mrs Markley from our family’s days at OMOS. My parents did marriage Encounter with them and I remember being in awe of their love for each other! They are the kindest couple and I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Markley.

I knew Bill for almost 50 years, dating back to the mid 1970s. The Markleys were our next door neighbors, and through the years we remained friends with Bill and Eileen. They later moved into our former house.
Bill was incredibly kind-hearted and focused on helping other people. He was always our first choice for help with automotive mechanical needs and other projects around the house. He always did so with a smile, and the only times he said no would be because he was too busy helping other people.
Beyond how useful he was to so many, he was even more appreciated as a friend. His easy-going way of speaking and practical point of view on matters that make other people emotional were always refreshing.
Of course, like so many, I'm really sad that he has left this world, especially because I wasn't expecting it. However, so many people spend years of their life doing things they don't want to do. I take comfort in knowing that Bill Markley seemed to spend his years doing exactly what he wanted to do... keeping busy with projects, volunteering in the community, staying physically active, and most importantly, loving his family. For that reason, I'm not as sad as I expected I would be at his passing.
On behalf of my whole family, we truly thank you, Bill, for all your help and friendship for so many years. Rest in peace.
