Obituary of Gilbert Raymond

Gilbert (Gil, Gilly, Gibby, Nano, Gilby Gurl, Baby, Brenda) Raymond, 42, peacefully passed surrounded by his loving husband Tony, family and friends on November 12th, 2021, in Tucson, AZ. Gilbert is preceded in death by Marcy Smith, mother, Janet Hoogerwef, stepmother, Letty Raymond, grandmother, and Gilbert Raymond Sr., grandfather.

Gilbert was born in Tucson, AZ on February 5th, 1979 to Gilbert Jr. and Marcy. He grew up on the eastside of town and attended Santa Rita High School. Gilbert met his life partner Tony in 2006 and they shared 15 wonderful years together.

Gilbert worked in the service industry right out of high school. He enjoyed being around people and loved a good time. Gilbert had a wicked sense of humor, although sometimes inappropriate,  he always made people laugh. Gilbert’s ability to speak his mind was envious. He was loyal and protective of family and friends. He loved a good Lady Gaga song, along with dancing and singing (as if no one was watching). His laugh is one of the things we will miss the most.

Gilbert is survived and lovingly remembered by his husband Tony, his father Gilbert Raymond Jr., sister Rylee Hoogerwerf, brother Dylan Hoogerwerf, grandmother June Nolen and many other family members and lifelong friends; and of course his beloved pets Suki the cat and BunBun the rabbit.
