Thank you, Mateito. Uncle Scott was so proud of you. He loved to play sports with you and your brothers and cousins. Summers in Walnut Creek created some very treasured memories. Love, Aunt Vicki

Sending our prayers from WV and the extended Wertman family. So sorry to hear of this news, and disappointed we can't be there. Scott was, and is, a part of so many of my our memories spent in Morgantown with family.

Uncle Scott, I will never forget you. I wish I had more time to talk with you and learn from you. Learn everything you did. I am learning Computer Science, and every time that I sit down writing code until the morning, I think of you. I think about how much you have accomplished, especially obtaining the Master Inventor designation. I dream to be like you, to be as smart as you were, and invent.
You will always be on my mind, pushing me to keep going forward, because I want to be as smart and incredible as you were.
I will always remember the day you and my dad taught me how to bat. It's a memory that I always recall when visiting the batting cages with grandpa. That day, I might have been 10 years old, probably less. We were out in the field behind grandpa's house, and had brought the wiffle bat and ball. You were the pitcher, and I was batting.
Legs square, shoulders up, bat up, poise, swing, and follow through.
I tried my best to follow those indications, you pitched, I swung. The ball and bat connected, and the ball shot straight to your shin. Leaving a comical imprint of the wiffle ball on your shin. You weren't angry, you weren't upset. You were impressed. Impressed with not only the fact that I connected with the ball, but that it had that much strength. You praised me, said I did well, despite the pain you must have felt. Thank you for giving me confidence.
Whenever I talked to you, you would give me your attention, no matter what. You cared about the things I talked about, and answered the questions I gave you. Thank you for giving me advice. I will never forget the things you have taught me, and I will never forget the moments I shared with you as your nephew.
I love you Uncle, and I know that you're up in heaven with grandma, watching over us.
