Obituary of Raymond Roland Weekley

Ray “Pops” died peacefully at home on Thursday 14th April 2022 in Vail, AZ at the age of 87. He is survived by his daughter Diana Hudson (Weekley) and husband Jed of Vail, AZ.; Grandchildren: Ashley Rae Holten and Husband Zac of Tucson, AZ, Christy Hudson of Vail, AZ, and Ashley Marie Hudson of Lubbock, TX; Great Grand Son Kaden Asher Hudson of Vail, AZ; Sisters Viola Gifford and husband Ralph, Rose Mary Oerman of Fredericton, MO, and Bonnie Weekley Troy, MO, along with many cousins, aunts,uncles,nephews, nieces, and friends. He  was preceded in death by both his parents, Earlen and Rena Weekley of Coldwater, MO; Brothers Phillip Earl Weekley and Donal Edward Weekley of MO; Sisters Betty Jane Weekley and Teola Meloy of MO. Ray was born on Sunday March 10, 1935 in Coldwater, MO to Earlen and Rena Weekley .  He was married 25th  of July in 1968 to Marcene L Ellefson in Berlin, Germany. While serving his country in the United States Army. They spent their honeymoon touring the Austrian countryside, going to castles, finding great restaurants, and fishing. He spoke of it often as one of the best times in his life. Pop’s was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed camping, gardening, hunting, and fishing.  He also loved sharing the stories of his life with family and friends. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday April 21st 2022 at 12:00.  It will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ at 1300 Buffalo Soldier Trail  85635. Raymond Weekley will be celebrated with full military honors followed by Chaplain John Primm officiating the ceremony  and graveside  to conclude the celebration of the life of Raymond R Weekley, affectionately known as “Pop’s” to all that love him We want to thank those who joined us in his care from his amazing mother/daughter caregivers that spent everyday with him, Bayada Home Health Care that visited several times a week, his cardiologists who treated him more like family than a patient, and Hospice Family Care that helped us through the last few days of his life. Bonds have been formed that will never be broken thanks to Pop’s. So we ask you to join us to celebrate the culmination of a life well lived. Godspeed……...
