Charles Prince

Obituary of Charles Prince

Contractor and family man Charles “Buddy” Prince passed away on April 13, 2023 at the age of 71, loved by so many who will continue to honor his legacy. His battle with series medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile and while wearing his infamous black Ray Ban sunglasses.

He was born January 21, 1952 to George & Jean Prince and was immediately named, “Buddy” by his brother and best friend, Sonny.

He often artfully told stories of his childhood growing up near Amarillo, TX, with his life-long friends and the “trouble” they caused.

Upon graduation from Ardmore High School in Oklahoma in 1970, Buddy traveled the SW and spent his entire career building and creating dream homes as the owner of Prince Homes. He was a true visionary and could see beauty in almost everything (and everyone).

Buddy never met a stranger. He had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation and often had a story to share that provided comfort and ended with a giggle.  He had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor about himself that made everyone feel welcome.  He was a man of true integrity, and his handshake was his word.

Family was everything to Buddy. He was the definition of generous and truly a gift.

Buddy was the most loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and dear friend.  He is survived by his wife, Becky Prince; daughters, Kelli Trueba (Ben), Abby Prince and Jessie Prince; step-daughters Jennifer Lewis (David), and Alyson Chauncey; step-sons Mark Chauncey and Geoff Day; and grandchildren Joseph and Reagan Trueba.  Forever remembered by his brother Sonny Prince (Norma), sister Debbie Jeffers (Randy), and step-brother Richard Guenther (Cristina). He is loved and remembered by his aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends that he all held so very dear.

Buddy was predeceased by his father George Prince, mother Jean Tate and step-father Bill Tate.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bring’s Funeral Home (6910 E. Broadway in Tucson) on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 2-5pm and is open to all those that adored Buddy.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to El Rio Community Health Center, a non-profit health center in Tucson that Buddy loved.
