Obituary of Evelyn Decker Jorgensen
Evelyn Decker Jorgensen, 97, passed away on February 6, 2024. She was born August 16, 1926 on a farm in West Point, Nebraska to Henry J. and Mary A Decker. Evelyn is survived by five children Edward (Julie), Michael (Debra), Karen (Steve) Kornman, Matthew, Sandra Albrecht, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Peter Jorgensen and her son Peter Charles Jorgensen. Evelyn graduated from Creighton University with a degree in Business. For 25 years, she worked at the University of Arizona as an Administrative Assistant in the College of Agriculture. She enjoyed her time at the University, especially working with the international students, and continued to be a devoted fan of her Arizona Wildcats sports teams.
Evelyn took pride in having been raised on a farm. She could handle a wagon and team of horses, but couldn’t ride a bike. She loved to sew, crochet (while watching TV or carrying on a conversation) and was a fabulous cook and baker. Evelyn was a strong, beautiful woman with a quick wit who loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed.
